The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber is a must read for anyone who is considering the possibility of creating a business or has already started one.   The E-Myth Revisited is an update to the original book, The E-Myth.

The E-Myth Revisited follows Sarah and her pie making business.  Those who have tried to start their own business will easily relate to the situations Sarah finds herself in.  After limited success she asks for help from the narrator (Michael Gerber).  Through the course of their conversations, the pitfalls that claim 9 out of 10 small businesses are highlighted.  At the same time, methods of avoiding these traps are similarly outlined.

Why it is Recommended

While it is a very quick and enjoyable read, the information in this book is invaluable.  As the cover boldly states, it is about "Why most small businesses don't work and what to do about it."  By using the story of Sarah's pie shop, Gerber effectively details what you must do to be successful without getting the reader mired in technical jargon.

The original book, The E-Myth, was written some years ago and this newest version attempts to update for the Information Age.  While the story has seen some years, the principles are still relevant today.  The update makes this doubly true.  If you have a small business or are considering creating one, pick up The E-Myth Revisited.  The wisdom it contains will give you a leg up and help you beat the statistics.
